#Flashback to the official opening of the #KingstonLogisticsPark on Wednesday, August 3, 2022!

As part of its ongoing initiatives to support Jamaica’s ambitions of becoming the premier logistics hub for the region, the Government of Jamaica (GOJ) made available to the #PortAuthorityJa (PAJ) over 40 hectares of lands immediately adjoining the Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL), to be developed as a port-centric logistics and value-added industrial park.

The GOJ also introduced the Logistics Hub Initiative (LHI), with its focus being to leverage Jamaica’s geographical location in global cargo trade, to position the country as a global destination in cargo transshipment and logistics services.

The newly minted Kingston Logistics Park (KLP) is one of the premier logistics projects under this initiative, and features an 18,000 sq metre modern warehouse facility, a first phase in a multi-phased, multi-development plan to showcase Jamaica’s logistics potential and to enhance the ports ecosystem.

The KLP now acts as an incubator/catalyst for potential logistics users of the Port of Kingston with a focus on warehousing and storage. The site is located within a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and users of the facility can enjoy certain tax incentives.

The KLP is the flagship marine-based industrial zone developed under the new Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act of 2016. Together, the LHI and the SEZ Act are intended to help stimulate economic development, attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and introduce new innovative technologies to the country.

KLP Benefits Include:
▪ Proximity to major ports - KFTL and Kingston Wharves Ltd. (KWL).
▪ Special Economic Zone Status.
▪ On-property Law Enforcement Facility housing the Jamaica & US Customs.
▪ 15 minutes commute to major cities, population centers, range of support services.
▪ Easy access to modern road networks for cargo movements.
▪ Proximity to the Norman Manley International Airport.
